Going out in style... Major Betty Style!!

I guess I should start this blog post by saying that the title was hard to make a final decision on- but I came to this one and figured it was appropriate. I am sad to say this will be my last blog post for Major Betty :(
But I figured I would go out with a bang and post my favorite vintage find!! When I found this camel cape with leopard trim, it truly completed my life! It is everything!! (besides my kiddo and hubby) :)
I was doing a cupcake delivery to Augusta, Ga and decided to swing into this vintage shop on the square called The Maze. I died when I saw it- it was in perfect condition and the price was an even bigger culprit to my demise- $38.00!!!

This little blog has been the funnest little thing I have done in a long while, but I have to focus my time on other things- like things that actually make me money and not cause me to spend it! :)
So I am off to my next adventure and hope you guys have enjoyed my little outfits along the way :)
Thanks a bunch!!

All mixed up... In a good way!

Never being one to shy away from mixing patterns, I paired my beloved striped Forever21 boat neck top with my watercolor printed skirt from the Prabal Gurung collection that came to Target a couple of months back. My bold, chunky necklace ties the skirt in with it's similar coral color and I kept my shoes neutral :)
Top- Forever21; Skirt- Prabal Gurung for Target (no longer available) Also love this one from Modcloth!; Necklace- Premier Jewelry (old) Also love this coral statement necklace from LuLu's!; Shoes- Jaysie from Shoemint (now on sale for $49.99)

Leather in the summer?... Yes please!

I fell in love with these faux leather paneled leggings from BCBG that I picked up from one of my local boutiques All Together! I thought since they have so much impact on their own, I would keep the rest of the outfit casual, so I paired them up with my new little tank from Victoria's Secret and my trusty go-to fedora! These leggings are so light weight that they totally work in the summer time to beat the heat, but they are also going to be so great with a big chunky long sweater in the fall and winter! (I already have one in mind sitting in my closet ready to be paired up!)

Tank- Victoria's Secret; Leggings- BCBG from All Together Boutique; Shoes- Jessica Simpson (no longer available) Also in love with these from Sole Society!; Fedora- Target (in stores only); Lip color- Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Infrared Matte; Nail color- Mally 24/7 gel color in Big Apple

Red, White & Blue... Retro Style!

I'm never one to get very festive when a holiday rolls around, so this is my take on 4th of July style! I took the idea of going red, white & blue and added my own retro spin to it! I love my navy polka dot shorts from Ann Taylor! I have been wearing them all summer and paired with these heels from Target, I felt very vintage Riviera and pinup-ish!

Cardigan- Urban Outfitters (old) Also love this one from Anthropologie; Necklace- Banana Republic (old); Tank- Gap; Shorts- Ann Taylor (polka dot sold out, but try the Stripe version!); Heels- Target

For the Summer... Go Wild!

For my third look teaming up with the brand Fashion Spy, I went with this great printed frock!
My heart is always in the fall and winter when it comes to fashion looks (I love layers!) so my trick to get through summer is to "visually" layer! When you choose a dress that has such a graphic print, you draw the eye in and add visual depth so there is no need for a cardigan or jacket (and who want that on a scorching 90 degree day?!) This dress fit the bill perfectly and the sweet little key hole in the back is just a bonus!!

Dress- C/O Fashion Spy; Belt- J.Crew (old); Heels- Kenneth Cole Reaction (old) Also love these from Sole Society!; Watch- Marc by Marc Jacobs; Link Bracelet- Bronzo Italia

Black and White... With Touches of Green!

So in my new endeavor to start bringing you little things here and there, I found this great blouse to go in my new little shop! I love that it is sheer so it is great for the summer with the sleeves rolled up like I have it styled, but I also love the idea of carrying it into fall and winter with maybe a great vest over it! (note to self- remember to do a post with a vest when it starts to cool off!)
It is on trend with the black and white graphic print and then I love the added pop of neon green along the top back and down the side panels! I paired it with my mint green skinnies to do a fun green color combo!

The highs and lows... in floral!

Still pairing up with design house Fashion Spy, I got to play with this great high-low floral frock! The dress comes with a mustard-colored tie belt, but I decided to put my new J.Crew belt with it. I also went with my trusty go-to studded clutch and gladiator wedges to roughen up the sweetness of the floral dress a bit!

Dress- c/o Fashion Spy; Belt- J.Crew Factory; Studded Clutch- (oldie but a goodie) Similar; Wedges- Nine West (old) Also love these from LuLu's!

Go zero to sixty's... in 3.5!

Ok so follow me for a second... You know the part of the movie in Grease where all the girls go to cheer on the guys when they drag race? Well say that happened in the 60's and I had a guy that was about to go dragging- I would wear this!! Haha- ok I went a little over board with my back story, but you get my point! It just makes me happy to look at- and I felt even happier in it (and really flirty and dare I say... A bit sexy!)
I don't think I have shared with you that I get the awesome privilege to help my fashion designer friend sell her designs (Fashion Spy) to boutiques all throughout the south when the Atlanta market comes to town! So this past market when I first walked into our booth and saw the new collection for the first time- this mod little frock stole my heart! Is it not the sweetest thing ever?!
So I knew I had to do a post on it! I love the on-trend black and white checkered pattern and then the added touch of the peter-pan collar to soften the feel of the dress.
I am so excited to say that I will be teaming up with Fashion Spy to bring you some looks she has been working on for this Summer season! Get ready to get outfit inspired!

Also in honor of my little collaboration with Fashion Spy I wanted you to be completely ready when you get this super cute dress, so I am doing a GIVEAWAY to one lucky reader to win this bag and bangle!! Printed pants... sure you can!

If you are anything like me, you have shied away from anything that draws attention to the biggest part of you. For me, it's my caboose! So without question when the printed pants trend came rolling through I decided to wait on torturing myself in the dressing room. But then I got to thinking and it truly is all about proportions! So since I am bottom heavy, a big, bold print would never do for me. So when I found these tonal, small printed cropped trousers from H&M, I gave them a go!
I have to say I love them and I have been def getting my money's worth out of them- I wear them with everything, but for this outfit I paired them with another of my faves- the classic striped shirt. So yes you can wear printed pants, just find a print that works great for your body type (and bonus I am showing you that you can mix prints too!) I just kept my look in the same color family with shades of blue and then popped it with the orange necklace and bracelet :)

Top- Forever21; Pants- H&M (recent) and I also love these from Zara; Fedora- Target (in stores only); Necklace- J.Crew Factory; Bracelet- vintage; Shoes- ShoeMint

The Betty is back...

Ok so I know you probably feel like I just completely abandoned my blog for a bit, but May has just been the busiest month ever for me!! My sister got married so we had to finish planning out her big day (it turned out great and perfect and she was the most gorg bride ever!)
But needless to say I am back in the swing of things and the blog is back on my major to-do list!
So lets get started with a great outfit for Spring/Summer!
I went to my local J.Crew Factory store and found this super sweet lime green polka dot top. I love it and think it will be equally cute with some skinny jeans! (I also picked up this versatile pendant necklace) Then I hopped over to Kohl's and grabbed this Simply Vera Vera Wang fit-n-flare skirt. It fits great and the high waisted aspect is just a bonus for me! And then for my true weakness... THESE WEDGES! Are they not to die for! And best part... the are only $30 bucks from JCPenny! I am in love with all of the on trend styles wrapped up in this one pair of shoes- the snake print, the ankle straps and the pop of color (what more could you want?!)
So thanks for patiently waiting on me and I promise to not be such a sucky blogger in the future! :)
